If any of your teeth are chipped, cracked, or discolored, veneers may be the best fit for you. Here’s some basic information to help you decide:
What is a veneer?
A veneer is a thin surface of extremely durable porcelain that is custom fit and powerfully glued to your tooth.
How would Dr. Bennett Packard or Dr. David Packard fit me with a veneer?
On your first visit, Dr. Bennett Packard or Dr. David Packard will bring you in to assess the damage, during which he may be able to fit you with a temporary veneer. A mold will be taken of your mouth called an impression, which will be taken to a dental technician to create your permanent veneer. You may want to get your teeth whitened first, as the material of the permanent veneer cannot be bleached later and you’ll want to match it to the shade of the rest of your teeth.
Once your permanent veneer has been created, Dr. Bennett Packard or Dr. David Packard will remove the temporary veneer and will attach the veneer to your tooth with a special durable dental superglue.
What are the benefits of a veneer?
• A beautiful, full smile
• You can keep and use part of your natural tooth
• The veneer saves your original tooth from exposure to bacteria and acid
• If your natural tooth is strong and sturdy, veneers are better to use than crowns
