Root Canal Therapy Can Save a Damaged Tooth and Restore Your Healthy Smile

Posted .

Dr. Bennett Packard and Dr. David Packard are pleased to be able to offer root canal therapy for our patients who have extensive damage to a tooth in their smile. Root canal treatment is an endodontic procedure which essentially replaces the damaged nerves and tooth pulp within a tooth which has an infection or abscess. Neglecting to treat the tooth with a root canal will ultimately result in the tooth dying and requiring an extraction.

Fortunately, with a root canal treatment, we will be able to restore the tooth back to its health, function, and appearance while saving it from extraction. When you come in for a root canal, one of our skilled dentists will carefully remove all of the infected tissue in the injured tooth. Once the tooth has been thoroughly cleaned out, he will fill the area with a rubberlike material called “gutta-percha”. This seals the tooth to prevent bacteria from inhabiting the tooth. Next, your dentist will cap the tooth, usually with a dental crown. After the restoration, you can use your tooth normally again.

Our team at Creekside Dental offers root canal treatment for our patients in Yakima, Washington, and the surrounding areas. We make sure your time in the chair is as comfortable, and relaxing as possible. Do you have a damaged tooth in your smile?
